1993 Lancia Delta Integrale EVO 2 Giallo Ginestra
Few cars have a rally pedigree quite like the Lancia Delta Integrale. What started life as a practical Italian hatchback evolved into one of the most successful rally cars ever built, dominating the World Rally Championship through the late 1980s and early 1990s and securing six consecutive manufacturers’ titles for Lancia.
The road cars became the closest thing to a rally car you could actually use every day. With its widened arches, four-wheel drive, turbocharged engine, the Integrale became an icon in its own right. The final evolution, the EVO 2, brought the recipe even further. It received a revised 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder producing around 210 hp, together with improved engine management, larger wheels and a number of chassis and interior upgrades.
This particular car is one of the very special Giallo Ginestra editions, a limited series of just 200 cars based on the EVO 2. Finished in the unmistakable Giallo Ginestra yellow over a contrasting blue interior, it is one of those combinations that simply looks right on a Delta.
The EVO 2 also brought some of the details that make these cars so enjoyable today, including the sportier bucket seats and Momo steering wheel, alongside the already purposeful EVO 2 interior. Underneath sits the familiar 2.0-litre 16-valve turbo engine, producing approximately 210 hp and driving all four wheels.
Our car was imported from Japan and has covered just 63,400 km. It has been well looked after, runs and drives perfectly and is ready to be enjoyed. It is exactly the kind of car you can jump into and go looking for a good road without worrying about putting a few more kilometres on it.
The Giallo Ginestra paint makes it impossible to miss, while the blue interior gives it an even more distinctive character. And behind the wheel, it is still every bit the Delta Integrale: compact, raw, turbocharged and full of character.
At Colombo & Co., we consider the Integrale one of the perfect classic car daily drivers. It has enough practicality to use regularly, enough personality to make every drive special, and enough performance to give plenty of modern enthusiasts something to think about when the road starts getting interesting.
